Through the Texas Department of State Health Services, the CCDC has participated in the CDC's National Breast and Cervical Cancer Early Detection Program for over 30 years providing breast and cervical cancer screening and diagnostic services to the underserved and uninsured women in El Paso, Texas.
Types of Services provided include:- Clinical breast examination (CBE)
- Mammogram screening
- Pelvic exam
- Pap test (Pap-smear)
- Case Management
- Education
- Diagnostic mammogram
- Breast ultrasound
- Breast biopsy
- Colposcopy
- Loop electrosurgical excisional procedure (LEEP, Cervical biopsy)
Case management is provided to any individual who is in need of follow-up after an abnormal finding or in need of treatment. The Case managers assist in applying for a special Medicaid for Breast and Cervical Cancer (MBCC). A Medicaid program that helps women to receive treatment for breast and cervical cancer. Case Managers help fillng out the application, with initial screening for eligibility, and a determiation of a qualifying diagnosis.
Outcome: CCDC has provided more than 154,000 breast and cervical cancer screenings, diagnostic and treatment services.
